The Dust on the Mirror

We live our lives mostly just polishing the mirrors—our relationships, careers, appearances—that they reflect clearer, perfect images of ourselves. Whenever some smudges or blurs become visible, we deduce smudge-marks to people, circumstances, or sometimes fate, thinking that once we clean them, an automatic rightness within ourselves would restore.

What if the dust isn't on the mirror at all?

In reality, it is probably more about the perceptions we hold than flaws in our environment. Our doubts, insecurities, and certain fears stick together like dust on our faces, distorting the way we perceive everything else.

It is always easy to look outside and want to 'fix' everything out there while ignoring the smudges we hold ourselves. But that real clarity starts on the inside when you stop and look inside and then slowly wipe that dust from your very own faces.

True clarity starts when we stop, look inside, and carefully begin to peel away layers of self-doubt, guilt, and fear from the face. Uncomfortable process, requiring courage and self-awareness, but liberating since the clearer you are within, the more authentic the reflection you see on the outside.

Because, however crystal clear the mirror is, it cannot sway the reflection unless we do.
